No excuse . .

Except we were camping and now we're all sick. :(

We went to Panama City a couple weeks ago. Camped at St. Andrews state park. We had a great time. The kids enjoyed it, too . . . until they both started running fevers. Kevin wasn't feeling good for a couple days, and after we got home, I got the nagging cough and sore throat.

Ethan started soccer practice yesterday. He is doing so much better this year than last time he played (the summer after Emily was born). He is going after the ball and being more forceful rather than just falling behind and watching the grass grow!!! He loves it. And they must be more competitive than the last league because we have practice 2-3 times a week until January!!! I don't even know when the season starts, but he'll be ready, no doubt.

Emily is doing great, talking up a storm. It's so nice when they can communicate with you. Relieves a lot of frustration and wards off a few (very few) tantrums!!

That's all for now . . . time to go watch Private Practice.

Sigh . . .

Kevin wanted the kids to sleep in our room in case rioting broke out, didn't want to have to worry about them. I can't believe we live in a time where we have to worry about rioting because of a presidential election. :/

I'm bummed about this election. I am so against everything Obama stands for (abortion, tax, health care, the Constitution, Iraq, military, gun control, spending, etc). If he was any further left, he'd fall off the scale. I just hope that he doesn't have a chance to put a lot of his plans into action before the next election (and yes, I'm already looking forward to the next election!!). Obama and everything that has come out in this whole ordeal is full of red flags. But we (not me) are willing to sweep it all under the rug because "the Republicans have done so bad the last 8 years!"

I've read so many comments on other sites. Some make me laugh . . . some make me cry . . . and most just make me angry. Like the lady who says that she voted for Obama so she didn't have to get a job. Or the guy who says that "America will be different now that *we* finally got into the White House." So much for being proud that we have moved ahead so far as a nation that a black man can be president.

I do have to say that I started off the day disappointed. Disappointed in America and the people of this country. I said that I would not stand behind this president or even acknowledge him as "my president." I know (and hope) that my feelings are heightened right now because the wounds are fresh. I hope I can come to terms with this and continue to support our country and do my best to make it a better place, in spite of the obstacles.

I did read something that helped ease my mind, at least a little.

How to Survive the National Hangover

And now I'm off to watch Hannity and Colmes. :)

Election called

To Obama. :(

Emily's speech

Emily had her speech therapy today. She walked off with the therapist without shedding a tear. That NEVER happens!!! We were both shocked. :) She did pretty good but still won't say much to the therapist. So they are going to have me in the room with her next time to see if she'll open up more. They are trying to get her to say more, open, and want. She says more and open all the time.

Words/phrases she says at 20 months:

hi
book
bye
baby
mama
no
dada
nope
bubba
yeah
glasses
Emmy
walk
Dora
door
Boots
hand
squirrel
eye
Benny
mouth
star
teeth
hot
ear
mote (remote)
hair
water
eyebrow
shoe
cheek
what's that
drink
Diego
more
ball
eat
Elmo
yellow
whoa
purple
uh-oh
i don't know
oh no
i don't want to
boo
open
boo-boo
up
poo-poo
down
all done
brush teeth
mouse
moo-moo (cow)
puppy
cracker
banana
apple

I think that's it. I don't know why we have been worried about her speech . . . :) She's doing great.

Weekend

This weekend, Kevin's dad got married. We had a great time at the wedding. The ceremony was short and perfect. Neither of the kids had a chance to get fidgety!!! The reception was laid back, and there was plenty of delicious food!

Sibiling Rivalry Begins

Ethan asked for some tape. When I asked why, he said he needed to tape this to his door.

And here's the sign he made for Emily's door.

I'm so proud that he wrote these all by himself . . . spelling and all.

This time is different!

I'm going to keep up with this!!! LOL

I've tried the blog thing a few times. Each time, after not posting for months, I go back and delete everything and start over!!!

This is it . . . stay tuned . . . but don't hold your breath. I wouldn't want to be responsible for that!!
