T-Ball

Ethan starts t-ball practice tonight. He just finished up soccer, which only lasted 1 month. He decided he wants to try t-ball as well. Kevin is the coach! That should be fun.

A couple kids from his class are on his team. So I'm sure he'll have a blast. :) Which reminds me to get those soccer pics uploaded . . .

My little man isn't so little anymore. He's gotten so big . . . and so smart!! Since school started, he's had all A's except a B in penmanship. So we work on writing at home as much as possible. I'm happy to report that he has pulled his grade up to an A!!! I'm so proud of him. :)

Happy Birthday, Princess!

Emily is two whole years old!!! I can't believe it. Time sure flies . . . :)

We had a fun morning of playing with bubba and Maverick, watching Dora, and posing for pictures for mommy!!!

Then I went to make her cake. She's playing in the living room, and I hear, "Mommy, help!!" followed by a thud. She fell off, I assume, the back of the chair. She must have hit my sewing chair because she has a few tiny bruises on her eye. NOT A BLACK EYE ON HER BIRTHDAY!!! :( As she's running to tell me, she hits her head on the table. (We have one of those bar height tables, and she has just gotten too tall to run under it.) Poor thing!!!

And you know it comes in three's, right . . . . .

So I took her in our room to snuggle for a nap, and she wanted some milk. I told her to stay there, and I'd go get her some. She didn't stay . . . and as she slipped off the bed, she misjudged the night stand and got a nice scrape down her back from the corner of the night stand. All this within a 15 minute span.

Now she's napping happily in her room. Hopefully she'll wake up refreshed and no more falls or accidents today.

I did manage to get some cute pics this morning. I'll have to post those later, with the pics from her devouring her Dora cake and getting presents. :) Which makes me wonder . . . will she even want to eat Dora and her dress?? lol

TWO in TWO!!!

Emily will be TWO in just TWO days!!! :) My pretty little princess . . . I can't believe it. Two years ago today Ethan and I were just hanging out together, thinking I had another 7 weeks before Emily would arrive. Never thinking that the following day, I would be in the hospital in labor . . .

We aren't having a big party . . . just dinner, cake, and gifts with the four of us. I'm making her a cool Dora cake, and I just finished her Dora outfit!! She had to model it for me to make sure it fit . . . and boy did she throw a fit when I took it off!!! She was yelling "That's MINE!!" he he he

Valentine's Day . . . besides being dreary and rainy all day . . . was nice. Kevin got me a big thing (what is it arrangement, bouquet, I don't know!) from Edible Arrangements. It was yummy . . . The kids got me a gift certificate to get a manicure and pedicure. :) I made a DELICIOUS dinner, and we hung out at the house all day.

Boring weekend . . .

Kevin had to work all weekend, so the kids and I just hung out. Saturday, we went shopping and running errands.

Sunday, Kevin got up at 5am to find Emily already up. He tried to put her back to sleep (with me) and went to shower. When he got out, she was in the living room, just sitting in the recliner!! He turned on Dora, and she sat there and watched TV. He left around 6am, and I got up just before 8am. We don't know if she fell asleep or sat there the whole time!! Silly girl . . .

We have a busy few months, it seems. Kevin has a couple classes coming up. Ethan has been talking about touring the battleship in Alabama. Kevin and I went when I was pregnant with Ethan. We went again when Ethan was really young. So we will be going there for a weekend with both kids, and they are going to have a blast!! We also have a Disney trip semi-planned. Then, because this is our first year of dealing with school, we have a fun trip planned to Tennessee for Spring Break. It seems like we haven't taken any of our normal mini-weekend-vacations in quite a while, so we are excited!

Well, the princess won't nap forever!! So I need to get some things done before she wakes up!!

It's been a while . . .

Let's see . . . looks like I haven't been updating like I said I would!!!

We had a great Christmas! It was a nice, quiet day with just Kevin, the kids, and me. Ethan got his new bike. Emily got her kitchen set. It was a good day!!

Ethan has been playing soccer. Actually, he only has 2 games left. Their team has been doing pretty good. Ethan is great at sweeper and has done pretty good at goalie. He isn't as aggressive or fast as some of the other players, so he's not as good on the offensive side! But he loves it. Their last game is next Saturday with pictures and a cook out. Then we'll sign him up for t-ball!! :)

Emily is doing great. She talks all.the.time!!! She's started sleeping pretty bad. I picked up the No Cry Sleep Solution for Toddlers. Hopefully we can put that plan into action so mommy isn't getting up 11 times a night. :/

This past weekend, we got a puppy!!! He's a yellow lab . . . and his name is Maverick. The kids love him. He's so sweet and mellow. So far, a pretty good dog!! He is a digger, though . . . so we have a few holes in the backyard. But he's a good dog.

We just booked our trip for Spring Break! Now that Ethan is in school, we fall into the typical vacations of every other family in America!!! To avoid the crowd (maybe), we are going to Pigeon Forge and Gatlinburg, TN. We will be staying for 6 days. There seems to be a lot of fun stuff for kids, so we are all pretty excited!!!

We are still planning a trip to Disney, probably in March. Active military get in free, and we get special 5 day discounted tickets. So we are really excited about that!! I'm sure we'll be overwhelmed!!!! :)

My handsome dude . . .

No excuse . .

Except we were camping and now we're all sick. :(

We went to Panama City a couple weeks ago. Camped at St. Andrews state park. We had a great time. The kids enjoyed it, too . . . until they both started running fevers. Kevin wasn't feeling good for a couple days, and after we got home, I got the nagging cough and sore throat.

Ethan started soccer practice yesterday. He is doing so much better this year than last time he played (the summer after Emily was born). He is going after the ball and being more forceful rather than just falling behind and watching the grass grow!!! He loves it. And they must be more competitive than the last league because we have practice 2-3 times a week until January!!! I don't even know when the season starts, but he'll be ready, no doubt.

Emily is doing great, talking up a storm. It's so nice when they can communicate with you. Relieves a lot of frustration and wards off a few (very few) tantrums!!

That's all for now . . . time to go watch Private Practice.

Sigh . . .

Kevin wanted the kids to sleep in our room in case rioting broke out, didn't want to have to worry about them. I can't believe we live in a time where we have to worry about rioting because of a presidential election. :/

I'm bummed about this election. I am so against everything Obama stands for (abortion, tax, health care, the Constitution, Iraq, military, gun control, spending, etc). If he was any further left, he'd fall off the scale. I just hope that he doesn't have a chance to put a lot of his plans into action before the next election (and yes, I'm already looking forward to the next election!!). Obama and everything that has come out in this whole ordeal is full of red flags. But we (not me) are willing to sweep it all under the rug because "the Republicans have done so bad the last 8 years!"

I've read so many comments on other sites. Some make me laugh . . . some make me cry . . . and most just make me angry. Like the lady who says that she voted for Obama so she didn't have to get a job. Or the guy who says that "America will be different now that *we* finally got into the White House." So much for being proud that we have moved ahead so far as a nation that a black man can be president.

I do have to say that I started off the day disappointed. Disappointed in America and the people of this country. I said that I would not stand behind this president or even acknowledge him as "my president." I know (and hope) that my feelings are heightened right now because the wounds are fresh. I hope I can come to terms with this and continue to support our country and do my best to make it a better place, in spite of the obstacles.

I did read something that helped ease my mind, at least a little.

How to Survive the National Hangover

And now I'm off to watch Hannity and Colmes. :)

Election called

To Obama. :(

Emily's speech

Emily had her speech therapy today. She walked off with the therapist without shedding a tear. That NEVER happens!!! We were both shocked. :) She did pretty good but still won't say much to the therapist. So they are going to have me in the room with her next time to see if she'll open up more. They are trying to get her to say more, open, and want. She says more and open all the time.

Words/phrases she says at 20 months:

hi
book
bye
baby
mama
no
dada
nope
bubba
yeah
glasses
Emmy
walk
Dora
door
Boots
hand
squirrel
eye
Benny
mouth
star
teeth
hot
ear
mote (remote)
hair
water
eyebrow
shoe
cheek
what's that
drink
Diego
more
ball
eat
Elmo
yellow
whoa
purple
uh-oh
i don't know
oh no
i don't want to
boo
open
boo-boo
up
poo-poo
down
all done
brush teeth
mouse
moo-moo (cow)
puppy
cracker
banana
apple

I think that's it. I don't know why we have been worried about her speech . . . :) She's doing great.

Weekend

This weekend, Kevin's dad got married. We had a great time at the wedding. The ceremony was short and perfect. Neither of the kids had a chance to get fidgety!!! The reception was laid back, and there was plenty of delicious food!

Sibiling Rivalry Begins

Ethan asked for some tape. When I asked why, he said he needed to tape this to his door.

And here's the sign he made for Emily's door.

I'm so proud that he wrote these all by himself . . . spelling and all.

This time is different!

I'm going to keep up with this!!! LOL

I've tried the blog thing a few times. Each time, after not posting for months, I go back and delete everything and start over!!!

This is it . . . stay tuned . . . but don't hold your breath. I wouldn't want to be responsible for that!!
